This year we celebrate two birthdays: GAMS became a commerical product 15 years ago and Alex Meeraus will turn 60 in August 2003. In honor of this occasion, we are planning an event on Friday, September 19th. The event will be hosted at the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington, Virgina and will include an all day workshop and an evening banquet.
The morning session will consist of talks surveying areas in optimization and modeling by experts in the field, addressing the past as prologue to the future and highlighting Alex's contributions. The afternoon session will touch on a range of specific optimization applications and related topics. There will also be opportunity to share more personal anecdotes and histories and to discuss future directions and collaborations in optimization modeling during a roundtable discussion.
