September 18, 2003, 2pm to 6pm
Workshop fee: US $ 75.00.
Registration: Course Coordinator.
Presented by: John Chinneck, Leon Lasdon, Janos Pinter, and Nick Sahinidis
The presentation will introduce the recently released GAMS global solvers - BARON, LGO, OQNLP - and the MProbe model analyzer. Within this context, the general subject of global optimization and a wide range of its current and potential applications will also be reviewed. We also plan to make sufficient room for questions and an informal 'panel discussion'.
The presenters:
John Chinneck is Professor at Carleton University, Ottawa; he develops MProbe.
Leon Lasdon is Professor at the University of Texas, Austin; he is a senior developer of OQNLP.
Janos Pinter is President of PCS Inc., and Adjunct Professor at Dalhousie University, Halifax; he develops LGO.
Nick Sahinidis is Professor at the University of Illinois, Urbana; he is a senior developer of BARON.
All four presenters are well-recognized researchers; their 'total professional output' amounts to several books and a few hundred research articles. They also have extensive practical experience related to advanced optimization.
Brief information regarding the GAMS solvers discussed during the Workshop can be found at the GAMS solver page with pointers to the more detailed documentation.
Please note that this workshop directly precedes the Workshop on Optimization/Modeling/Applications --- 15 Years GAMS Development - 60 Years Alex Meeraus", held at the same venue.
