From September 24-25, 2018 we attended the 7th International Ruhr Energy Conference in Essen. GAMS sponsored the event which featured contributions from several areas of energy-related research in economics, finance, engineering, social sciences, and mathematics.
The discussed problems were manifold and so were the applied solution methods. We gave a well-received talk on “Solving Large-Scale Energy System Models” sharing our perspective of the challenges that GAMS users who are active in this field frequently face and showing some solution approaches.
The breaks and especially the social event on Monday evening were great opportunities to get in touch with other conference participants. After a guided tour through the Red Dot Design Museum which features the worldwide largest exhibition of contemporary design, the group walked to the Erich Brost Pavillon. A great location for the conference dinner with a breath-taking panoramic view.
