EcoMod School of Modeling and Data Science Summer Program

The EcoMod School will offer three five-day intensive hands-on courses in Singapore. Since the courses are run simultaneously, participants can only choose one course for this period.

The EcoMod School of Modeling and Data Science offers the world’s leading professional training programs in all fields of applied economic modeling. The intensive and hands-on courses are designed for economists in the public and private sector institutions, PhD students, and academics.

EcoMod courses are relevant for all the major current economic issues such as sustainability, energy, climate change, monetary and fiscal policy, taxation, labor markets, development, pension, health, social protection, gender, labor, agriculture, tourism, water, regional issues, etc. The participants learn how to develop and use models for scenario analysis, impact analysis, forecasting and projections. EcoMod offers intensive courses taught by instructors with comprehensive practical experience as leaders in modeling departments of major institutions. Five full days of hands-on courses with the opportunity to network with other modelers from around the globe is truly a unique and powerful learning experience.

The following courses will be offered:

Advanced Techniques in General Equilibrium Modeling with GAMS

Intensive course at the advanced level. The course will focus on multinational and multisectoral modeling with imperfect competition and intertemporal dynamics. This course is only accessible to those who have some experience in general equilibrium modeling and to the alumni of the EcoMod School or on-line courses.

Applied Machine Learning in Python for Economic Analysis and Econometrics

Intensive course at the advanced level. The course will focus on economic and financial modeling using simulation, optimization, time series, and machine learning in Python. Only real-world data are used in this course, often accessed through API.

Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) Modeling Step-By-Step

Intensive course at the introductory level. This course is tailored for professionals involved in economic forecasting and policy analysis in the central banks, ministries, research organizations, and international institutions. The course will introduce all the basic tools for constructing and implementing dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) models for policy analysis and forecasting.

Energy and Environmental CGE Modeling with GAMS

Intensive course at the advanced level. The course will focus on modeling energy and greenhouse gas emissions. This course is only accessible to those who have some experience in general equilibrium modeling and to the alumni of the EcoMod School.

Financial Social Accounting Matrices (FSAM): Building and Modeling Real-Financial Multiplier Models for Policy Analysis

This course provides a strong theoretical foundation and hands-on experience in building Social Accounting Matrices according to the new recommendations of System of National Accounts 2008. The content of the course goes beyond the generalized input-output framework for calculating simple multipliers by considering a Financial Social Accounting Matrix (FSAM).

Macroeconometric Modeling, Forecasting, and Policy Analysis

Intensive course at the introductory level. This course is tailored for staff developing or using macroeconometric models and staff involved in policy analysis in the central banks, ministries, and international institutions.

Practical General Equilibrium Modeling with GAMS

Intensive course at the introductory level. For those who have little or no experience in modeling and in GAMS.
